In a bid to bolster electoral processes and enhance transparency, the Center for Democracy and Sustainable Development (DSD) recently organized a comprehensive three-day training session for staff members of the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC).
Held from October 31 to November 2, 2021, in Garowe, the training brought together 21 participants from various departments within TPEC. The primary objective was to equip attendees with a profound understanding of election technologies and their applications in electoral processes.
Throughout the workshop, participants delved into a range of topics, including the utilization of technology in elections, server management protocols, and the intricacies of systems supporting vital functions such as voter registration and verification. Sessions were meticulously designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills essential for navigating the complexities of election technology.
One of the key highlights of the training agenda was the focus on developing technology for managing election results. Participants were provided with hands-on experience and the necessary tools to ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in the electoral process.
Funded by Interpeace, this initiative underscores a collective commitment to strengthening electoral processes in Puntland. By empowering TPEC staff with advanced technological expertise, the Center for DSD aims to facilitate the region’s smoother, more transparent, and inclusive electoral operations.
The training concluded with participants expressing gratitude for the valuable insights gained and their commitment to implementing best practices in future electoral endeavors. As Puntland continues on its democratic journey, initiatives like these play a crucial role in building trust and confidence in the electoral process among citizens and stakeholders alike.
