The Center for Democracy and Sustainable Development (CDSD), in partnership with the Ministry of Women Development and Family Affairs (MOWDAFA), organized a two-day training session for 68 women candidates participating in the local council elections in Garowe. This training was funded by the UNDP Joint Program for Local Governance (JPLG).
The primary objective of the training was to equip these aspiring women leaders with the necessary skills for effective campaign management and to empower them to actively engage in the electoral process. Over the course of the training, participants received in-depth instruction covering a range of topics including campaign management strategies, fundraising techniques, message development, communication best practices, and public speaking skills.
By providing tailored training to women candidates, this initiative seeks to enhance their capabilities and confidence, thereby fostering their meaningful participation in the electoral arena. It represents a significant step towards promoting gender equality and inclusivity in local governance processes, ultimately contributing to more representative and responsive decision-making bodies in Qardho, Eyl and Uffayn districts.
